Like the Medium Produce Share, the Small Produce Share is an estimated 20 week delivery for folks who want produce on a weekly basis but want less than the Standard Share offers (Contents in the Small Share are about 65-70% of the Medium Share.) This share is expected to meet most of the produce needs of 1 – 2 people eating a diverse diet, or vegetable light households. See our Example CSA Shares page for more details.

Estimated to be once a week early-mid June through mid-late October.

Expect to receive an estimated 20 weekly shares of fresh seasonal produce from approximately mid-June to mid/late-October.  The Medium Share is our standard, and is planned with the aim of providing most of the produce needs of one household of four (2 adults, 2 children) with a diverse diet, or 2 people eating a mostly plant-based diet.  But, of course, people differ widely on the amount of produce they eat. When you sign up for one of the above Summer Season Produce Shares you can opt to add on the following extra shares:

Mushroom Share:

$43 all button, $49 combo, $57 all portabellas

An every-other week delivery of 1 pound of certified organic mushrooms for a total of ten deliveries.  Choose from either all buttons, all portabella, or the Combo share (4 weeks of button, 5 weeks of crimini, and 1 week of portabella—not in this order).  The mushrooms come from local mushroom farm, Gourmet’s Delight.

Micro Green & Shoot Share:

$160

ONLY 25 “Micro Green and Shoot Shares” are offered for 2017.

This COOL new share is a total of 16 deliveries over the full 20 week season. Why not a full 20 weeks? Sometimes shoots and micros struggle in the heat of summer and we expect production will slow down for about 4 out of the 20 weeks.

Each delivery will include 4 oz. of shoots AND 3 oz. of micro greens (single variety or a mix).

Why a Micro Green & Shoot share?

We grow several varieties of micro greens, as well as pea shoots and sunflower shoots. However, due to their high cost of production these items are generally* not included in our summer CSA shares, but sold at farmers market and to a few small grocers. (* A sampling of pea shoots is included in the Summer CSA during week 1 and sometimes week 2.)

We’ve had quite a bit of interest in our specialty micro greens and shoots, and decided to offer a share to our CSA members.

Fruit Offerings:

Fresh Blueberries

For 2017 we will offer Midwestern fruit as an add-on throughout the  growing season.  An email will be sent out to CSA members as the fruit becomes available during the season.  At that time members can choose if they want to order and how much they want to get.

The seasonal fruit will be from Midwest farmers (the fruit is not from our farm).  Generally we partner with fruit farmers who use organic, sustainable, and/or IPM (Integrated Pest Management) methods.  Not all of the fruit is certified organic.

The fruit will be offered in bulk.

Here’s are some of the fruits we hope to offer for 2017:

Apples

  • July: Sweet cherries
  • July/August: Blueberries
  • August: Peaches
  • August/September: Plums
  • September/October: Apples

Food-for-Others Share:

Any amount is appreciated

Each season we seek out families or persons in need of fresh produce who could otherwise not afford to purchase a share.  Your contribution (of any amount) to the Food-for-Others Share (FFO) makes that happen.  The farm matches a portion of each contribution made. Thank you for sharing!

To learn more or to receive assistance from the Food-for-Other Share, please see “What is the Food-for-others Share” on the FAQ page.

Keep in mind that not all CSA farms are the same.  Each farm is unique.  A few questions to ask when considering a CSA farm: How many weeks the CSA is expected to run? How much produce is expected each week? Is the produce certified organic? Other considerations: Newsletter/Communication? Farm events? Extras offered? What else is important to you?  Ask yourself. Ask the farmer. Find the right farm for you!
